MichiganEWO@yahoo.com. Donations to support the state exhibit are
welcome. Checks can be written to Red Cedar Friends Witness (memo line
for EWO-MI) and mailed to P.O. Box 4878, East Lansing, MI 48826.
Eyes Wide Open: The Cost of War to MICHIGAN includes 179 pairs of boots
representing fallen servicemen and women from Michigan who have died in
Iraq and Afghanistan. The display recognizes veteran suicides and
includes visual representations of the Iraqi and Afghani civilian
casualties. This exhibit is part of AFSC’s national network:
Eyes Wide Open: The
Human Cost of War.
The intent of this exhibit is to memorialize all the individuals that
have been lost and draw attention to the price they and their families
have paid. In so doing, the exhibit raises questions about the
justification for the war which AFSC opposes. This memorial is a space
where Michigan residents come together no matter their views. The
exhibit has been created with respect and care because it is a sacred
representation of pain, suffering, loss, and death.
